Hydrocarbon generation and accumulation within space-limited source rocks are analyzed in this book. Our conclusions are based on the principles of basin formation, hydrocarbon generation and accumulation, coupled with the practice of terrigenous basins in eastern China. Hydrocarbon generation and expulsion have been quantitatively assessed in space-limited source rock systems. Our new developed hydrocarbon generation and expulsion models can more accurately reflect real geological situations. The theory and practice proposed in the present book challenge the traditional theory of kerogen thermal degradation and hydrocarbon generation.
This book proposes a new geological theory that challenges the traditional petroleum geology. Traditional hydrocarbon generation theory of source rocks is based on organic geochemistry, while the theory in this book is based on petroleum geochemistry in geological conditions, which more accord with the underground geology, and is more helpful to oil and gas sophisticated exploration.
